Bowling for Columbine

•November 19, 2008 • 1 Comment

My first thought about this movie even before watching it was that it was going to be another boring political movie comparing events due to guns. I was right, kind of. This movie was about guns, but it wasn’t boring by any means. I have never watching one of Moore’s movies, so I guess I didn’t know what to expect. He really gets to the point and shows everyone the way he sees it. So far this movie as fascinating. It’s a real tear jerker. But it also gets you to think about the different views that people have on the touchy subject. I think this movie should be seen by everyone.

Seeing the statistics in the movie on how many people a year are killed by guns in different countries was shocking! I never realized that America was the highest with about 11,000 deaths. It showed me how different places really are. I guess I figured that we had about the same deaths in every country and were were not that different. But I couldn’t have been any wronger!

My overall feelings on this movie is good. This movie really helped me realize what the world is actually like.

Medication Mary Jane

One of the options on the ballots for the election in 2008 was whether or not Propostion 1 should go through. This propostion stated if Michigan should make medical maijuana legal. To no ones surprise it went through. When I saw the propositions, I was not sure how I felt about them. Once I heard about Propositionion 1 being legalized, I decided it was probably for the best. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about how marijuana should just be legalized over all. So many people smoke in anyways, it’s just a hassle to make it illegal. Marijuana is more safe than regular cigarettes in my opinion. If cigarettes are legal, then why cant marijuana be?

Drinking it Younger

•November 5, 2008 • Leave a Comment

For the past couple years, there has been a big issue on the drinking age. Many people think that the age should be lowered to 18. It’s said that since at the age of 18 we can fight for our country, that we should have the choice of have a beer or two. I agree with this. If we can drive, vote, and fight, why can’t we drink? We are suppost to be treated like adults at this age, but how are we when they take away a simple drink from out lips and scold us?

I do see though how it could have negative affects. Kids from 14 up to 21 are drinking under age. If the drinking age is lowered, many people fear that the kids who drink under age will be even younger than 14.

I do believe though that the age should be lowered to 18. We have to act like adults now, why can’t we drink like one?

What Really Gets My Goat

I could most likely go on and on about what really irritates me if I just sat down and thought about it. But I’m not going to, so I am just going to list the first things that come off the top of my head.

1.) Unnecessary little tapping noises!

2.) Sniffling repeatedly. (GO BLOW YOUR FREAKIN NOSE!)

3.) This goes for my suit mate: When I am in the bathroom, that is not an open invite for you to come in with me!

4.) While traveling on an airplane and crazy parents decided to let their kids either cry and cry or run loose like a wild animal down the aisles. (also don’t like the kicking seat children either)

5.) People who find the need to clear their throat every 10 seconds.

6.) People who tell unnecessary stories or that have no point to them.

7.) People who make rude comments towards me or other people.

8.) Loud noises when I am trying to sleep, or people talking.

9.) Loud music base playing over and over again.

10.) People who have to be in the bathroom for 2-3 hours at a time.

History!

undecided, uneducated, don’t care

talk, talk, talking all around me

“WE WANT HIM, HE’S BETTER”

“SHE’S CRAZY, HES NO GOOD”

being pulled between two

“HAVE YOU REGISTERED?”

no

“WHO DO YOU WANT!?”

I don’t care

watching as the world is buzzing by in a hurry, controversy

“HE SAID, SHE PROMISED”‘t

I don’t even know, don’t care

start to feel pressure

WHO DO I WANT, WHO IS BETTER?

I don’t even know, starting to care

HERE, NOW, PRESENT

HE’S AHEAD, HE’S DOWN

Really pulling for him now,

but only a cheerleader on the side

wasn’t a team player in this game

WAITING, WAITING..

cheering erupts from around me

I smile on the inside and know…but outside,

“I don’t care” is still showing

but still…

HISTORY WAS MADE

Speed

•October 30, 2008 • 1 Comment

Everyone can get a little impatient sometimes and I have noticed this a lot with traveling in the Michigan. Being in the vehicle for long periods of time can become very annoying and stressful. The scenery can get very repetitive and like most people I tend to get a lead foot. I know this can be the case for many people. I have noticed that the speed of 55 mph seems to be so slow and that I speed up. I know many people who do this and end up with a ticket. Personally, I think that the speed should be raised to 75 mph. The speed around this area just seems to slow! I know many people would agree with this opinion.

My Debate List

•October 29, 2008 • 1 Comment

Arguing, raised voices and stubbornness. This is what I think about when I hear the word debate. I am not really known for debating, I usually keep to myself about things, but occasionally I will express my beliefs on subjects. The big reason I, myself, don’t like debating is because I tend to stutter or my face gets real red. I tend to have a hard time to find words and how to get my point across or to have evidence to back my subject matter up. What I am trying to say is that I don’t really like debating, it’s just not my thing.

If I had to choose something to debate about I would choose:

Animal Rights, abortion, religion, smoking in public, drinking age, gay rights, death penalty, mandatory drug testing, graduation requirements, and censorship.

Smoking Kills the Non-Smokers

•October 21, 2008 • 1 Comment

I come from a family who smokes; everyone is my family besides my 2 younger sisters smoke. After a while it gets sickening. I am constantly around it and smell like it too. Not only that, but I am getting the same effects medical effects they are, just slower.

I think that there should be a rule that you are not allowed to smoke in houses and around other people who do not like smoking. Or, just have a separate room for smoking. They are affecting themselves and others. It makes other peoples clothing and belonging smell gross and it affects their health.

Parents today should think about their children’s health. It’s wrong to smoke around your kids, your hurting them. They also have to go to school or daycare with that smell imbedded in their clothes and hair.

Personally, if I had a choice, I would try to make smoking illegal.

My Perfect Mate!

•October 21, 2008 • 1 Comment

My perfect mate would have to have a sense of humor. That is one of the most important things. He would have to understand my humor as well or else it is just awkward. I would have to be able to have a fun time and not worry about screwing up, just to be able to laugh it off. Together, we would be able to go through the whole day just messing around and not worrying about time, just keeping each other company and laughing the day away.
